Installation & Setup
After you have selected a place for the DS923+ and plugged in all the cables you need (Ethernet and Power) it is time to find the device and the easiest way to do that is to visit https://find.synology.com.
When you click on connect you will be presented with a few options; just follow the Install Wizard and you will be off to the races in no time.
It could take up to 10 minutes to install the latest version of DiskStation Manager or DSM, but in my experience the whole process only really takes about 5 minutes. Once the install is complete, you can log in and create the storage pool.
In the case of this review, Synology kindly included two of their own NAS hard drives, the Synology Plus Series HAT3310-12T.
The HAT3310-12T is a 12 terabyte capacity 3.5-inch drive designed specifically for NAS operations. They come with a 3-year warranty, are able to be updated through DSM itself and are designed to be used 24/7.
